• GERD Preventions

  • Shedding off the extra weight : Losing weight has shown improvement in the symptoms of GERD and decrease in appearance of further attacks.
  • Dietary Habits:
    1. Avoid foods that are fat-rich, spicy and acidic.
    2. Avoid mint, chocolate, citrus fruits and tomato sauce.
    3. Consumption of raw onion and tomatoes need to be restricted.
    4. Also avoid caffeinated and carbonated beverages.
    5. Eat smaller meals at regular intervals.
    6. Prefer a gluten-free diet. Gluten rich foods are wheat, refined flour, semolina and should be avoided.
  • sleeping pattern: Never lie down immediately after eating. Wait for at least 3 hours before lying down, and prefer to lie down on your left side. Elevate the bed to at least 4-6 inches.
  • Keep a check on your medications.
  • Quit Smoking and Alcohol consumption.
