Treatment

The conventional method of treatment for Fibromyalgia focuses only on treating the symptoms rather than delving into the root cause of the problem. Treatment for Fibromyalgia mostly includes a variety of oral medicines.

Treatment of Fibromyalgia
  • Pain-killers: Anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants, etc. are used to deal with the pain. These medicines are known to deleteriously affect the kidneys, liver and other systems of the body if taken for long period of time.
  • Anti-psychotics: Medicines are given to deal with Depression, Anxiety and Sleep Disorders. However, these are not recommended as long-term treatments due to their hazardous side-effects as well as withdrawal effects.

Apart from the medicines, it is important to educate the patients, help them to reduce stress and recommend suitable exercises.
