• Callosities (Corns) Symptoms

Symptoms
  • Corns and Calluses symptoms initially present with thickening of the skin, pain on touching and sometimes, itching.
  • Corns develop in a typical pattern with a hard center and look like a funnel with a broad, raised top and pointed bottom. As a result of this typical shape, the pressure and pain is most intense at the tip, which is deep, resulting in deep tissue damage and ulceration. People with diabetes or neuropathy who have insensitive skin are at greater risk.
  • Calluses develop in regions where the skin rubs against something hard or rough, such as a shoe, a bone or the ground. The ball of the foot that takes most of the body weight while walking is a common site for calluses. Corns and Calluses symptoms are especially found in women who regularly wear high heels.
  • Sitar, Guitar and Violin players tend to develop calluses on their fingers as do farmers.
  • Corns and Calluses symptoms do not usually include pain, except when pressure is applied on them.
