Certain groups of people have been seen to be more prone to develop the condition. Ringworm risk factors include:

  • People whose immune system is weakened, either by the prolonged use of steroids, chemotherapy or HIV infection.
  • Individuals who come in close contact with infected persons.
  • People suffering from Diabetes are known to be more likely to develop the disease, as their immunity is compromised and there is reduced capacity to fight infections.
  • Children are more prone to the infection because of more personal interactions like playing, swimming, etc.
