Acid Neutralizing/Inhibitory Drugs

Antacids: These are used nowadays by patients of dyspepsia for symptomatic relief. They work by neutralizing secreted acid. Commonly used Antacids are – Aluminum hydroxide, Magnesium hydroxide, Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate.

H2 Receptor antagonists: They act by inhibiting acid secretion. These drugs are used in active ulcers for 4-6 weeks along with antibiotics in treatment for Peptic Ulcer disease.

Proton pump inhibitors: They are most potent acid inhibitory agents. Commonly used drugs are Omeprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole and pantoprazole.

Cyto-protective Agents: Following agents are commonly used in treatment for Peptic Ulcer disease. Sucralfate, Bismuth-containing preparations, Prostaglandin analogues

Treatment of H. pylori: Various therapies are used to eradicate Helicobacter pylori infection in treatment for Peptic Ulcer disease.

These medicines however provide only short term benefits and work only as long as they are consumed. Homeopathy on the other hand is very efficient in providing a long lasting relief without the need of long term consumption and that too without any risk of hazardous side effects.

Surgical Therapy: It is generally required for managing ulcer related complications in treatment for Peptic Ulcer disease. Bleeding, perforation and gastric outlet obstruction are 3 complications which require surgical therapy.
