Diagnosis and Tests

Lab tests and investigations are rarely required to diagnose Epistaxis. In certain severe conditions following tests are done:

  • Full blood count of CBC
  • Coagulation Studies (Bleeding and clotting time, Prothrombin, partial thromboplastin.)
  • Renal function and Liver function Tests for systemic illnesses
  • Imaging studies like CT scan and MRI may be rarely indicated in cases where a malignancy or growth is suspected.
