The patient was a 34-year-old doctor who presented with severe pain on the left side of his chest.
The patient had suffered from herpes zoster infection with eruptions on the chest 3 weeks ago. The eruptions resolved at the end of 10 days. However, the neuralgic pain did not resolve completely.
On the 12th day, the patient got drenched in the rain. The pain in the chest became worse after getting wet in the rain.
The pain was sharp and would radiate around the left side of the chest. The pain would be better when the patient moved about doing his routine work. However, it would become worse when he would take rest.
After detailed study and analysis of the case, the patient was prescribed the homeopathic remedy Rhus tox.
Within 24 hours, the neuralgic pain was better by about 30%. Within 3 days, the patient was much better and could resume his normal activities.
By the end of 1 week, the patient was fully recovered without any trace of his shingles.
