WHAT IS MEASLES?

Measles is one of the most common communicable diseases of children caused by a virus. It is prevalent in preschool children and seen mostly in winters and spring.

Before the introduction of vaccine in 1963, there were approximately 3-4 million cases of measles and 500 deaths each year in the United States. The number of measles cases has been significantly reduced in recent years due to vaccination. However, the disease has not been completely eradicated. Read more on Causes of Measles.
